Cable Clip

This self-initiated weekend project began as an exploration of a small, memorable takeaway our agency could share at an upcoming IDSA event. The goal was to design something simple, functional, and playful—an object that could spark conversation while showcasing our approach to thoughtful product design.

Starting from quick sketches, I drafted and iterated the concept in CAD before producing a series of works-like prototypes on my 3D printer. The design intentionally leverages the characteristics of PLA to demonstrate two core mechanical features: a living hinge that enables flexible motion in a single printed piece, and a tactile snap-fit that provides satisfying feedback when the clip is engaged.

The geometry also allows each clip to connect modularly, forming longer strips when combined. This makes the object adaptable while maintaining an efficient print layout.

To communicate the concept beyond the physical prototype, I developed a set of rendered visuals that illustrate use cases and playful brand-forward scenarios. The logo subtly integrates the agency identity into the object, transforming it into a tangible brand artifact rather than a typical promotional giveaway.

The result is a compact, functional object that highlights rapid prototyping, material-driven design, and storytelling through both physical and digital visualization—turning a simple print into a memorable touchpoint for our community.
